The National Art School (NAS) is at the forefront of innovative arts practice utilising our distinctive studio-based teaching model to deliver exceptional higher education and research, scholarship and professional practice. NAS is an independent art school with an Academic Board focussed on dynamic studio-based education to enable, educate, enhance, and propel students as the artists of tomorrow to shape the future of art. The National Art School is accredited through TEQSA and offers Bachelor of Fine Art, Master, and Doctorate courses in Painting, Photomedia, Sculpture, Ceramics, and Printmaking, and core subjects in Drawing and Art History and Theory. We are a State Significant organisation (SSO) in NSW with a dedication to become the leading art school in the Asia Pacific.

Exhibitions Project Officer

 

The Exhibitions Project Officer is a member of the NAS Galleries Curatorial Team and provides administrative and operational support to the National Art School’s Galleries exhibition programs. It has a focus on major Indigenous exhibition projects currently in development for the National Art School as well as touring programs. The role assists with the delivery and coordination of Gallery programs, talks, and other events in the gallery spaces. The position liaises with a broad range of stakeholders, both internal and external, including exhibiting artists, visitors, the general public, volunteers, marketing, development, facilities, security and teaching staff.  The role contributes to audience development by supporting initiatives that meet the National Art School’s vision and strategic goals. Please note this is part time, three day a week, fixed term contract until 19 December 2025.

You have a background in visual art, art history, curatorship and Gallery experience. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong organisational and project management experience. You have the capacity to prioritise, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. You are proactive, able to work independently, with the ability to use your own initiative and sound judgement.

Digital Marketer

 

The Digital Marketer plays an important role in coordinating the marketing and communication activities that drive degree recruitment, short course attendance, public program participation, exhibition promotion, brand positioning and alumni engagement.

You will have a thorough understanding of marketing principles with a focus on digital media channels and e-communications. You are responsible for ensuring that high quality, dynamic, timely content is posted which reflects the school’s brand, identity and strategic purposes. You will be responsible for creating and disseminating content based on our audience segmentation. You will be data driven and able to provide timely reports on campaigns including audience data, behaviour, and insights. You will have high level written and verbal communication skills and be highly organised with good problem solving and time management capabilities. You will have backend website experience, CRM database experience and familiarity with social media and marketing platforms as well as a solid understanding of Google analytics, Facebook Business and paid digital marketing ads. A competitive remuneration package is available to the successful candidate.

Sculpture Technician

 

The Studio Technician – Sculpture provides technical support for delivery of outstanding teaching, learning and studio practice/research throughout all sculpture programs of the National Art School. Working closely with the Head of Sculpture and lecturing staff of the department, the Sculpture Technician is responsible for the resourcing, maintenance and upkeep of the studios and equipment of the department; the implementation of effective studio process and procedures, and the demonstration/monitoring of safe and appropriate use of studio equipment and resources.

You will have relevant undergraduate qualifications and/or relevant trade/work experience. You will have in-depth knowledge of sculpture techniques, processes and practices. You will have demonstrated knowledge of the requirements for the effective functioning of a studio or professional workshop. You will have the ability to communicate effectively to a large range of students and staff, including the ability to demonstrate and clearly convey instructions. You will have the ability to work both under direction and independently, and an ability to contribute to a team environment.
